Philip Seymour Hoffman Goes to Rehab for His Heroin-Snorting Problem
News has emerged that Philip Seymour Hoffman just
got out of detox last Friday after a 10-day stay to kick an addiction
that started with prescription drugs and culminated in snorting heroin.
Hoffman was
23 years sober before he fell off the wagon about a year ago — no
official statement has been made, but he told TMZ that he's being
supported by "a great group of friends and family." He's already back to

The
actor, who has struggled with substance abuse in the past, had been
living a sober lifestyle for over 20 years before he relapsed again last
year.
Hoffman told TMZ that the problem "started slowly with prescription
pills, and recently escalated to snorting heroin."
He also said that
"the heroin use only lasted a week or so and he quickly realized he
needed help, so he checked himself into a detox facility on the East
Coast."
The actor credited his first attempt at sobriety for his success and
said he believes that his life would be different if he had not stopped
using drugs and alcohol.
Hoffman was lucky enough
to recognize the signs of his heroin and prescription drug addiction
before it was too late.
He also had a supportive group of family and
friends who encouraged him to seek treatment.
Living a life in the public eye can drive a person to abuse drugs and
alcohol.
